JOB RESPONSIBILITES

Responsible for the technical side of the sales strategy and implementation.  Distill and understand project requirements, generate proposals, and help manage technical communications with a customer on a pre-sales level.  Understand the business processes involved in customer projects and translate this knowledge into an effective implementation.  Consult with clients to analyze and understand functions to be implemented, client needs, objectives, desired features, etc.  Provide assistance in scoping customer requirements and assist in incorporating these into customer proposals.  Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding administration, integration, migration, problems, or questions with Mirapoint systems.  Be part of the sales team to deliver effective proposals and proofs-of-concept to prospective clients.  Ensure that colleagues and management are kept informed of project issues.  Help establish and build strategic relationships with key customers and partners in our target market segments. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years technical experience with enterprise email/messaging solutions (e.g MS Exchange, Lotus Notes/Domino, Novell Groupwise, SunOne)
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field
• Messaging or Messaging Security expertise (as a SE)
• 5+ years proven track record as a successful SE (worked for a vendor vs. reseller)
• Systems administration experience with Unix and Microsoft systems
• Expertise with messaging protocols SMTP, POP and IMAP
• Knowledge of computer networking and web technologies
• Requires ability to travel up to 50% 

DESIRED SKILLS

• Large system integrator or consulting practice/professional services experience
• A strong working knowledge of general IT Technologies, including (but not limited to); TCP/IP networking, DNS, LDAP server Operating Systems (strong UNIX knowledge is heavily preferred), and programming/scripting.
• Strong working knowledge of e-mail and calendar related technologies and practices, including (but not limited to); SMTP, LDAP, iCal, Postmaster duties, spamming tactics and defenses, desktop clients for e-mail & Calendar. 
• Previous experience as a pre-sales system engineer, postmaster or e-mail administrator.
• Experience working with large Enterprise/Government customers
