Sophos Anti-Virus Chosen to Enhance Security for Mirapoint Customers

WAKEFIELD, Mass./SUNNYVALE, Calif. - November 6, 2001 - Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, and Mirapoint, a leading provider of Internet messaging infrastructure products, today announced a partnership to offer Mirapoint customers increased protection against harmful, email-borne viruses through Sophos's anti-virus technology. By combining the messaging expertise of Mirapoint with Sophos's excellence in virus detection, service providers and enterprises will be able to guard against virus threats through an integrated, turnkey server appliance.

Email-borne viruses are the most common method for infiltrating a company's network and cause significant financial damage. According to the International Computer Security Association® Labs, a division of TruSecure® Corporation, over 80 percent of all computer viruses enter an enterprise or service provider environment via e-mail, causing thousands of dollars in lost data and productivity time.
